These things are important to know before moving your laser machine.

Can I move / relocate the machine myself?

We can’t answer that right away. Please check a few things for yourself.

  • Can you disconnect the machine yourself?
  • Can the machine be moved out and into its correct place at the other location in its entirety?
  • Is there enough knowledge to reconnect the machine and adjust everything correctly?
  • If the machine needs to be disassembled, do you have enough expertise to do that?

What risks will I face?

Yes, you can move the machine yourself, but there are risks. One of the things that can happen is that the laser source breaks while moving. Be aware that any warranty you may still have on the machine or components will not apply if you move the laser machine and something breaks. When we move it for you and something breaks, we will fix it.

If you want to know what we can do for you, please send us a ticket. To find out what relocation by us costs, please send us the following information. With it, we can estimate which equipment is needed, if we need one mechanic (or more) and whether the machine can be moved in and out of the building in its entirety.

  • Photos of the machine in its current location.
  • Photos of where the machine is to be located.
  • From where to where should the machine be moved? If moving in the same building, from which floor to which floor? Does the machine need to be moved in the same room? How many meters are we talking about?
  • If from building A to building B we like to receive the addresses of both locations.
  • The route the machine has to take. Preferably we would like to receive photos of the obstacles. Think of an elevator, stairs, narrow curves, narrow passages et cetera.
  • If the machine needs to go up / down a floor, is there an elevator that can handle the weight of your laser machine? What are the dimensions of the elevator?
  • Photos and dimensions of the narrowest passage. If this is an elevator, please also check to see if there are any handles in the elevator that make the space even narrower.
  • We would like to hear if there are stairs / thresholds present and what the dimensions are. If possible, we would like to receive photos of this.
  • Is there enough space to load and unload a box truck? Does the box truck have to pass through a gate to enter? If so, what are the dimensions of the gate? We would like to receive photos of the loading / unloading areas.
  • How far is the loading / unloading area from the building? What is the surface leading to the building made of? Is it asphalt, pebbles, etc.?
  • Are there any obstacles at the loading / unloading area to where the machine is coming from or going? We would like to see what these obstacles are and what their dimensions are.

I am going to move the laser machine myself anyway. What should I do?

Please note! If you decide to move / relocate the machine yourself, any damage resulting from this will not be covered by the warranty! If the laser source or other parts break while moving, BRM Lasers can replace these parts under regular service charges but not under warranty.

First, disconnect everything from the machine.

  • Air pump
  • Water chiller. Please read Water chiller in top condition
  • Extraction
  • Plugs of the laser machine out of the socket
  • The laser source should, ideally, be removed from the machine before you move the machine. The laser source needs to be transported carefully with extra attention to the points where the water hoses are connected. It should not rest on the connection points. Pack the laser source securely in foam and transport the laser source as carefully as possible. If you leave the laser source in the laser machine then you need to make sure that there is as little vibration and such as possible while moving the machine.

When everything is disconnected you can rotate the legs of the machine up so that the machine rests on the wheels. Once the machine is on its wheels you can drive it to the moving truck or the new location. For example, you can use a pallet truck to move the machine, just make sure that the weight of the machine is well distributed on the pallet truck. If the machine cannot pass through the narrowest passageway, the machine can be placed on its side. Be careful with this and provide plenty of help, the machine is very heavy. Put a blanket or something similar under the machine to minimize the chance of damage.

Please note! When the machine must be put on its side, it is important to make sure the doors of the machine cannot fall open.

Please note! If you decide to move / relocate the machine yourself, any damage resulting from this will not be covered by the warranty! If the laser source or other parts break while moving, BRM Lasers can replace these parts under regular service charges but not under warranty.

I moved the machine, how do I get it to work again?

Ensure there is enough space between the machine and walls / other objects. There should be at least 420 mm of free space at the back and 1000 mm of free space on the right side of the machine. When the machine is in the right place you can level the machine. Rotate the legs out so the machine rests on the legs again instead of the wheels. Put a level on the axes, it is important that they are all level. Rotate the legs until you see that the level indicates that the machine stands level.

After this, if you removed the laser source from the machine, you can put it back in. Once you have installed the laser source, connect the water chiller. Make sure the water hoses are attached to the water chiller correctly. Plug the water chiller into an external outlet. Turn on the water chiller and check to see if the water flows from left to right through the laser source, seen from the back of the laser machine. If it flows from right to left, change the water hoses to get the cooling water flowing correctly. Also, make sure there are no air bubbles left in the water in the laser source, these can cause damage that could cause the laser source to break. Check Water chiller in top condition.

Once there are no more air bubbles in the laser source, you can turn off the water chiller and then you can plug the water chiller into the laser machine, if necessary. Then you can start reconnecting the rest of the parts of the machine, such as the air pump, extraction and so on. Also, put the plugs of the laser machine back into the sockets.

When everything is connected make sure you check the mirror alignment and adjust it if necessary.
